Andrew spent 10 years as a civil engineer for major consultancy firms including Arup and Buro Happold, working on a wide variety of construction projects across the UK. He led master planning and infrastructure projects, including the development of Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay, and hydraulic modelling and subsequent design works for Welsh Water (DCWW) as part of the AMP3 directive. He became a management consultant in 2005 primarily to deliver the 3-year, ERDF funded Construct Wales programme, aimed at assisting SMEs in the construction industry. He has assisted organisations from sole-traders to multinationals in areas of process improvement, site-based planning and supply chain development.

Andrew has lead on over twenty supplier development networks to identify and implement supply chain improvements as part of their customer commitment. He has extensive knowledge of all lean sigma tools, techniques and methodologies and has worked with around 100 construction companies apply these to their projects. He also has an extensive track record in collaborative planning and has written a bespoke and unique software package to determine optimum batch size and line-of-balance programmes which is now used by a number of clients.

Andrew is also a Prince2 Practitioner and holds current manager level CSCS certification.

Communication and project management skills

Andrew provides a significant amount of project management and reporting support to 6ix consulting. He has developed systems for our own organisation as well as for our clients and has assisted companies on their way towards ISO 9001 and Investors in People accreditation.

He has excellent communication skills as has been demonstrated through his workshop delivery together with the ability to deliver projects on a 1-2-1 basis.

Andrew has written a guide to the continuous improvement within housing voids for the Welsh Assembly Government and has had a paper published on the application of batch size reduction on programme durations.
